According to a recent report, 123 percent of the UK population has a mobile phone. How is this possible? We're not math majors either, so it struck us as a little odd. Then we realized it meant that people in the UK have more than one mobile phone. In fact, adults in the UK have 1.6 mobile phones.
How does this work? More often than not, a customer has a phone he carries with him wherever he goes and a backup phone. Some families have even made the decision to jettison their landlines and rely solely on mobile phones at home. But before you get rid of a home phone, there are several things you should consider.
The reason most UK residents still have landlines is because they are more reliable than mobile phones. More to the point, they are more reliable than mobile phone owners. After all, mobile phones must be charged or recharged, and though coverage areas have improved, they are not as consistent as landlines or a broadband price comparison website.
So, even though most families use mobile phones more than landlines, they keep them around in case of an emergency. That way, they don't have to worry about bad reception on a stormy night, poor coverage areas, or having to recharge them.
For families who have already made the switch and are all-mobile, we strongly suggest keeping a mobile phone in its charger at all times in case of an emergency.
